2025: Salamon AG tankers look back on a successful year

2025 was another successful year for the tankers of Dortmund-based Salamon AG. The three Panamax-class tankers earned monthly rates of between USD 7,600 and USD 32,600 per day, and the fund companies were once again able to make high distributions.

On an annual average, the two Cape-T class tankers (CAPE TAFT and CAPE TAMPA) earned rates of just under $22,000 per day, whilst the older vessel FEDOR faced increasing disinterest from the oil majors as charterers and achieved rates of only $13,200.

The debt-free vessels were once again able to pay out high dividends: CAPE TAMPA 20% and CAPE TAFT 17.5%. The all-time record holder for dividends, the Panamax tanker FEDOR, which had managed to pay out an outstanding 95% in total over the previous two years, was sold in August after 22 years of service. It made no further payments from vessel operations, but instead two instalments totalling 26% of the sale price – further payments will follow.

The operation of the Capesize bulk carrier BULK NORWAY was once again uneventful. Capesize rates started the year at a very low level and improved noticeably as the year progressed. Thanks to the index charter, under which the charter rate is linked to the performance of the Baltic Capesize Index, the vessel was able to benefit directly from the market upturn and achieved a TC of $ 19.300 in average. In 2025, the focus remained on the ship’s debt repayment, which is now scheduled for November of this year. In 2025, the 15-year class renewal took place at a shipyard in Fujian, China.

For the new year 2026, the management expects a stable and healthy earnings situation for the companies.
