Salamon AG was founded in 2002 by Christian Salamon, who previously worked for a Dortmund-based initiator of real estate funds and ship investments for 9 years. The company was very successful right from the start: The first ship was already a large Suezmax class tanker with an investment volume of over 60 million dollars. With a sense of proportion, courage, good advisors, restraint and perseverance, times were sometimes very difficult for the shipping industry. This also included, and time and again, the willingness to provide financial support to one's own fund companies. Of the more than 50 KG ship fund initiators in 2008, only a good handful remain. Today Salamon AG is one of the very few maritime asset management companies in Germany that has successfully mastered the large and long-lasting shipping crisis since 2008.
